Altona robbery: Police hunt for two men

Police have released images of two men they want to speak to after two men were robbed within five minutes of each other in Altona on June 9.

The first victim was robbed at knifepoint in Maidstone Street, near Wren Street, while walking home about 12.45am.

Hobsons Bay Senior Constable Danny Blake said the victim handed over $25 after being threatened by a man with a knife.

It is believed the assailant’s accomplice was waiting nearby in a silver hatchback.

The second victim was held up at knifepoint about 300 metres further along Maidstone Street, near the corner of Blyth Street.

Senior Constable Blake said the assailant approached the victim and asked him for a cigarette before producing a knife.

He demanded the man’s wallet but the victim told him to bugger off and he ran back to the car.

The first suspect is described as Mediterranean in appearance, aged 20-25, with olive skin, a thin moustache, and was wearing a grey-patterned hoodie.

The second suspect is Caucasian, aged 20-25, with brown eyes, shoulder-length brown hair, and wore a black hoodie, black parachute pants and white runners.

The silver car was last seen turning right into Queen Street, heading towards Altona Meadows.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
