Arts groups pool resources

Nine arts organisations in Melbourne’s west are joining forces in an effort to gain new audiences. Arts West brings together the western suburbs-based 100 Story Building, Ausdance Victoria, Big West, Snuff Puppets, The Substation, Footscray Community Arts Centre, Western Edge Youth Theatre, Women’s Circus and Cohealth Arts Generator. The groups will share skills and resources to help raise their profile.

TAC releases fatality stats

Two road deaths were recorded in Hobsons Bay last year, according to figures released by the Transport Accident Commission. One person died in a road incident in Maribyrnong. Ten people in each city were hospitalised for more than two weeks for road trauma last year. One road death was recorded in Hobsons Bay in 2012; there were five in Maribyrnong.

Spreading the word

Beyondblue’s national roadshow will visit Highpoint on Saturday to promote the importance of good mental health. Details: www.beyondblue.org.au

Ramadan celebration

An Eid festival to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan will be held at Seaworks in Williamstown this weekend.
