Maribyrnong Community Centre is offering a one-day workshop in picture framing. Learn to make your own frame for a piece of artwork from 10am-4pm on August 2.

Art display

From digital art to traditional printmaking, landscape painting and photography, a group of Maribyrnong artists will be displaying their works in Yarraville from August 1-4. The exhibition is open to the public at 130 Gamon Street, Yarraville.

Big 40

Williamstown Community and Education Centre is holding its 40th anniversary celebration from 2-3.30pm on August 15. Past and present centre users, students, childcare families and staff are invited. Afternoon tea and entertainment will be provided.

Anger management classes

Laverton Community Centre and Neighbourhood House will run women’s anger management, self-esteem and assertion courses, starting August 12. The centre is in Laverton Community Hub, corner of Railway Avenue and Crown Street.

Driver safety

Seniors can learn about the effects of medications on driving, keep up to date with road laws and get a roadworthy check on their cars at a Community Road Safety Council’s senior driver expo on Saturday, August 23. It’s at Hobsons Bay Civic Centre, Civic Parade, Altona, from 9.45am-2.30pm, with lunch provided.

Learn T-shirt printing

Are you 14-20, living in the west and want to learn T-shirt design and screenprinting? Then come to free sessions at Woods Street Arts Space, 44 Woods Street, Laverton, from 2-5pm every second Saturday until November 29. Free food and drinks.

Creatures of the night

You can see endangered eastern barred bandicoots at Werribee Open Range Zoo until Sunday, August 31. 10am-5pm daily.

Join the Scouts

Children from seven are invited to join the 2nd Newport Scout Group. The group plays games, goes camping and learns to look after the environment. For information, visit the Newport Scout Hall Monday nights.
