Spotswood: Police seek public help over assault on taxi driver at petrol station

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information from the public following an unprovoked assault of a taxi driver at a Spotswood petrol station early on Sunday morning. 

The driver was filling his cab with fuel when a man started damaging his taxi with a window washing squeegee at the Melbourne Road service station about 1.20am. 

When the driver questioned what the man was doing he was kicked to the head and knocked to the ground where he was further assaulted before being knocked unconscious. 

The offender has continued to damage the taxi before fleeing the scene. 

The victim was taken to the Western Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries. 

Police would like to speak to a man perceived to be of Caucasian appearance and aged in his 30s or 40s with a bald head. 

He was wearing an Essendon football jumper with number 27 on the back, dark-coloured pants and white sneakers.
