There were plenty of thrills and spills when the first round of the National Cyclo-Cross Series got off to a flying start in Braybrook on Saturday.
About 250 competitors from around Australia descended on Cranwell Reserve to tackle the 2.5-kilometre grass, road and trail course.
It was the second time Braybrook has hosted the Cycling Australia event.
Maribyrnong mayor Grant Miles said it was great to see a sports event of such calibre in the city.
“We have some top-class sports grounds here that support a wide range of sports activities,” he said.
Current national champions Allan Iacuone and Lisa Jacobs won their respective events.
