VFL: Seagulls into top four with win over Frankston

Williamstown continued its good run in the VFL with a 56-point win against Frankston on Sunday.

But the Seagulls didn’t have things all their own way and were forced to fight during a tough first half.

Trailing by 11 points at quarter-time, Williamstown began to find its groove in the second term. A four-goal-to-two quarter helped lift the Seagulls to a three-point lead at half-time, and from there the floodgates opened.

Williamstown shut Frankston down, holding the Dolphins to just three goals for the rest of the match.

On the back of six goals from Ryan Ferguson, Williamstown kicked 12 majors for the half to win easily, 18.10 (118) to 8.14 (62).

The result lifted Williamstown into the top four with a 4-3 record.

In other games, Footscray beat Sandringham and Casey was too good for the Northern Blues.
