Yarraville: Bros bikie club slapped with anti-fortification notice

The Bros motorbike club in Yarraville has been slapped with an anti-fortification notice that demands the removal of a range of heavy security measures from its clubhouse.

Echo task force detectives nailed the anti-fortification notice to the wall of the Bros Campbell Street club about 11.30am on Thursday.

The Bros have been ordered to remove steel bollards, doors and bars, strengthened glass, locks, CCTV cameras and the video intercom system by July 10.

No Bros members answered the door at the clubhouse shortly before detectives issued the notice.

A glass door, steel roller door and brickwork were marked with bullet holes, and the four bollards marked with B.F.F.B – an acronym for Bros forever, forever Bros.

The 14 fortifications ordered to be removed also include cameras with pan, tilt and zoom capabilities, and a steel gate and bars that separate the foyer from the main club room.

The order has been issued because police say there are “reasonable grounds” to believe the clubhouse has been or is likely to be used for or in connection to a crime, or to conceal evidence.

The Hells Angels are the only other club to have been served with an anti-fortification notice since the state government passed its bikie legislation last year.

The Echo task force, charged with policing bikie gangs, served that notice on the Angels’ Nomads chapter in Campbellfield.

The Bros, one of Victoria’s smaller clubs, are considered an outlaw bikie gang by police and identify as a “1 per cent” club.
