Preparations are in full swing to mark the celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8) in Maribyrnong.
Maribyrnong council has been helping an array of women co-ordinate their own events over the International Women’s Day weekend and throughout March.
Events include art workshops at the Little Rabbit Café, a fun run beside the Maribyrnong River, and an art exhibition, DJ and cake bake at the Phoenix Youth Centre.
Other activities include a travelling global photography and fashion installation, a roller derby scrimmage, words and stories by women on the West Art Now blog, and a ladies’ dinner hosted by Women of the West.
The March 15 dinner at Nuevo Latino in West Footscray will feature a Latino band and dancing, nibbles and a donation to Women’s Health West and West Welcome Wagon.
