The “man with 10,000 voices” is returning to Yarraville with a whole new bag of tricks.
No sound is off limits in Michael Winslow’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows at the Yarraville Club, whether they be barking dogs, soggy sneakers, roaring jets or screaming guitars.
The Police Academy star’s quickfire show features a mix of impersonations, impressions and storytelling, along with a re-enactment of an entire battle scene from Star Wars.
Music is again a major feature, including signature renditions of rock gods such as Jimmy Hendrix.
The sound effects master told the Weekly Australian audiences were a favourite, particularly his “family friendly” all-ages shows.
“The kids are great,” he said. “They will come up on stage and make some pretty surprising sounds of their own.”
Winslow says he loves mimicking the Australian accent but also loves to tackle a range of British accents.
“My job is to help people forget about everything, to hopefully make a connection with them and have them walk out feeling good,” he said.
Winslow performs at the Yarraville Club on Fridays and Saturdays until April 20, with all-ages shows on Sundays.
Tickets from $35.
