Kooringal Golf Club honoured its long-standing members at a special celebration dinner at the Wilga Avenue club.
Victorian and Australian amateur golf great Kevin Hartley and popular club members Rose Patterson and Pat Fitzgibbon were recognised for half a century of service to the 68-year-old club.
Director of membership Lynette Foote said the evening was a fitting tribute to the men and women who had supported the club over many years.
“We’re incredibly proud of our history and the important role the club plays in so many people’s lives,” she said.
“Life-long partnerships and very dear friendships have been forged on the fairways and through social events at this club, and tonight’s event celebrates that.
“Kooringal regularly welcomes new members, but we thought it was time we also acknowledged the rich history these long-serving members represent.”
Kooringal was inaugurated at a public meeting at the Williamstown Town Hall on September 27, 1946 as the Williamstown Golf Club before changing its name to Kooringal in 1958 when Altona became a separate municipality.
