People across Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong celebrated Harmony Day on Friday as part of Victoria’s Cultural Diversity Week.
Alice and Giovanna Agosta (pictured), of Altona North Children’s Centre, dressed in traditional clothing, shared food and experienced art and craft from other cultures.
Other events included a cultural games day when people took part in activities such as truyen-truyen (Vietnam), mahjong (China) and traditional Indian games. Maribyrnong residents joined a bus tour to places of worship, including Buddhist and Hindu temples, and there were preschool storytime sessions in Vietnamese, Chin and Burmese.
Other events included a free Colourfest film festival at Newport’s Substation, a Holi Festival celebrating Indian culture, and a “harmony feast”.
