Corker tastes

At The Cork and Tucker in Williamstown, husband and wife team Bronwyn and Christian Dann share what they believe a dining experience should be.

“Christian and I love food and entertaining,” Bronwyn says. “We wanted to create a place that’s a home away from home, where our guests are made to feel welcome.”

The gastropub has a balcony with stunning bay and city views. For intimate private functions there’s a separate dining room that has a secluded terrace and caters for up to 20 guests.

Head chef Christian, whose background includes working in South Yarra restaurant Jardin Tan and London’s Gaucho Grill, dishes up what he refers to as “Australian comfort food”.

“Our meals are hearty and full of flavour, allowing guests to leave feeling truly satisfied with their meal and the relaxed atmosphere surrounding them,” Christian says.

“One of our popular dishes is the wrapped chicken – a baked free-range chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto, with basil, feta and spring onion served on roasted vegetables and creamy mash with Madeira jus.”

Other mains include the lamb pie and loin pork schnitzel.

Children are catered for with their own menu.

A trio of desserts (changed daily) is perfect to finish with and ideal to share.

The Cork and Tucker, 231 Nelson Place, Williamstown. Opens 5-10pm Tuesdays; 11.30am-10pm Wednesdays-Thursdays; 11.30am-11pm Fridays; 11am-11pm Saturdays; and 11am-9pm Sundays. Inquiries: 8395 2411 or www.thecorkandtucker.com.au
