Singing sisters Vika and Linda Bull bring their distinctive harmonising to Yarraville this Saturday.
In a career spanning 25 years, singing in front of countless
crowds and performing for well-known identities such as Nelson Mandela,
the Dalai Lama and the King of Tonga, the sisters still find a buzz in
hitting the stage together.
Linda says she considers herself incredibly lucky to still be
performing years after they became household names with the Black
Sorrows. “This is what we are passionate about. The thing that keeps us
going is trying different things, singing with different people.”
The sisters have released eight albums of their own, as well as
performing live and on albums with Paul Kelly, Renee Geyer, John
Farnham, Hunters & Collectors, Tim Finn, Kasey Chambers and John
Butler.
They have always been drawn to different musical styles – soul and
R&B for Vika and country and other genres for Linda – but the magic
happens in the marriage of their distinctive voices.
“I couldn’t actually say what sort of music we sing, but the glue is the way we sing together.”
The pair will be joined by two guitarists and a bass player and will perform songs spanning their career.
