Williamstown Athletics Club champion Sweeney, 15, and new members Tilly, 15, and Charlotte, 14, are helping the
club celebrate one of its greatest triumphs – and this time it’s off
the running track.
The club recently received news its application for
new club rooms at its Newport Park home has been approved.
The concept
plan includes a pavilion extension incorporating a 200-square metre
multipurpose room.
Hobsons Bay council has allocated $600,000 from the
2013-14 budget towards the detailed design and construction of the
extension.
Club vice-president David Jamieson says the new rooms will be
used for social and training purposes and as somewhere to hold coaching
and training courses.
With the athletics season beginning next month
and much planning to be done, construction is unlikely to begin until
next year.
