Deer Park’s Jamie Willis wins Highpoint’s Star Search

TEEN singing sensation in the making Jamie Willis has won this year’s Star Search competition at Highpoint shopping centre in Maribyrnong.

Following in the footsteps of past winners Vanessa Amorosi, Anthony Callea and Kiyomi Vella, the Deer Park 19-year-old caught the judges’ attention in the over-17 category on Saturday with a show-stopping take on Sarah McLaughlin’s Angel

Her prizes include a $1500 Highpoint gift card and a recording package from The Entertainment Store. Eltham’s Sean McDonehue won the 11-16 category, singing Elton John’s Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word and taking away a $1500 Highpoint gift card.

Lenisa De Clemente, of Kingsbury, won the 3-10 category with her take on Marilyn Monroe’s Second Hand White Baby Grand. She won a $500 Highpoint gift card. 

The Voice contestant Kiyomi Vella returned to Highpoint as a celebrity judge and also performed.
