Protest at Laverton knackery

DOZENS of animal activists and residents will blockade a Laverton knackery on Saturday to protest after the RSPCA decided not to lay charges of animal cruelty.

Secret footage from the Leakes Road knackery’s yard surfaced late last year, which activists say showed live horses being belted and dragged before being shot and having their necks cut.

Saturday’s rally will protest the treatment of horses and the fact pet horses are kept in paddocks in view of the knackery killing floor.
