FOOTSCRAY SES has received a welcome helping hand in keeping the community safe.
As part of its annual equipment program, insurance company AAMI last week provided the unit with a range of equipment, including flare kits and traffic incident signs.
Martin O’Hely and Jenny Chivilo received the donations on behalf of the unit.
“We’re thrilled with AAMI’s contribution,” Mr O’Hely said. “Receiving equipment based on our unit’s specific requirements ensures our volunteers and the local community get the support where they need it the most.”
Over the past 11 years, AAMI has contributed more than $3.1 million to 152 SES units for operational equipment used by the 5500 SES volunteers.
AAMI executive manager for sponsorship John Bennetts said the donations helped SES manage emergency situations efficiently.
Footscray is one of 34 units in
the central region, its 1762 volunteers covering a 13,000-square-kilometre response area. Volunteers responded to more than 13,400 requests for help in the past year.
