A NEW campaign by well-known Footscray ‘‘ambassadors’’ is promoting the suburb to people living within and outside the area.
Footscray small-business owners passionate about their suburb are encouraging more people to visit their favourite places.
Your Footscray is an initiative of the Footscray Business Reference Group, supported by Regional Rail Link (RRL) and Maribyrnong council.
Last week’s launch on the roof of the Footscray Market began with the nine Your Footscray ambassadors sharing their stories to entice people to see what the area has to offer.
Steve Cornish, RRL’s Footscray-Deer Park alliance general manager, said the grassroots social marketing campaign on footscraylife.com.au and social media sites provided insider information from residents and retailers on Footscray’s top destinations.
“Nine local business ambassadors will spread messages on local safety, transport and leisure activities, and debunk some myths and misconceptions along the way.”
Rozenn Blouin and Abdul Hassen, owners of Ethiopian restaurant Konjo, are kicking off the online conversation.
Other ambassadors include Melanie and Matt Bodiam of The Reverence Hotel and fishmongers Paul and John Buttacavoli of John and Kevin’s Fresh Fish shop in the Footscray market.
