Big V women: Rampant Gators cast a spell over Magic

KATRINA Vogelezang and Jayne-Maree Sant lit it up for the Altona Gators in a 67-44 smashing of Hawthorn Magic in the Big V basketball women’s division 1 at the Altona Sports Centre on Sunday. Vogelezang led all scorers with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Sant finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Co-captain Ashleigh Richardson and Sally Cameron had a big presence inside the paint with 12 rebounds apiece as the young Gators brought up their second win of the season.

In men’s division 1, the Gators lost 79-71 at home to Blackburn Vikings. Shaun Phelan scored 19 points for the Gators.
