Disaster for Devils
NORTH Footscray was sadly uncompetitive in a 200-point loss to the Sunshine Kangaroos.
The Devils registered just two behinds in a horror show on their home turf at Hansen Reserve.
Both behinds came in the first half; the hosts went scoreless after the main break. If they were not already, the Devils should be installed as the early wooden spoon favourite.
Vikings’ hot start
ALTONA Vikings had the four points under wraps early in a 43-point win over Albion at JR Parsons Reserve.
The Vikings opened up with an eight-goal-to-one first term and held a whopping 80-point lead at the main break.
Credit to Albion: they fought back with 11 goals to five in the second half to add some respectability to the scoreboard.
Vikings’ big off-season signing, Jayden Post, snared four goals.
Eagles’ wings clipped
YARRAVILLE-Seddon Eagles kept pace with a star-studded Deer Park for all of 30 minutes before the favourites tore away for a 91-point win at John McLeod Oval.
The Eagles took a surprise four-point lead into quarter-time, but that’s where the joy ended for David Connell’s team, which conceded 19 of the last 24 goals.
They were left scratching their head as to how to blanket the Lions’ depth, which included 14 individual goalkickers.
Adam Baker booted three goals for the Eagles, while Jackson Bell was named ‘best’.
