Altona Life Saving Club’ best hit beach for state championships

ALTONA Life Saving Club’s top athletes gained valuable competition experience at last weekend’s 2013 Victorian Lifesaving Championships.

Host club Anglesea finished victorious overall on 429 points, followed by bayside club Half Moon Bay with 326 and Mordialloc with 321.

Almost 1000 athletes from 35 clubs competed in Life Saving Victoria’s final carnival for 2012-13.

Altona’s William Warton was third in the U15 men’s beach flags and sixth in the U15 beach sprint.

Life Saving Victoria’s Tom Mitchell said this year’s carnival saw fierce competition. “All events were highly contested and Altona LSC has done well to finish with strong results.”

This weekend, 1600 athletes will be at Lorne SLSC for the 2013 Victorian Junior Lifesaving Championships.
