Flower and Garden Show: Seddon native reclaims centre stage

Christie McIntosh, of Seddon, is bringing back memories of yesteryear at this week’s Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Ms McIntosh (pictured) has been working since Sunday to create one of the large floral installations at the show after her idea was embraced by organisers.

“My concept is based on an old forgotten playground. I wanted to create a space for people to remember and relive their childhood, to think about a carefree time.”

Ms McIntosh set out to build the installation using sustainable and reclaimed items, scouring far and wide for pieces such as a disused slide. One treasure found locally was a character-filled bench spotted at Williamstown’s Lost Ark Antiques & Collectables.

The show is at Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens until Sunday. Details: melbflowershow.com.au
