DINERS can take a jam-packed tour of the cultural and culinary delights of Braybrook this Saturday.
Tastebuds will get a global sampling as part of a free Braybrook Garden to Plate event.
Visitors to the Braybrook Community Centre can discover new delicacies, including fatayers (the East African version of a meat pie), a traditional Burmese curry, and pierogi (Polish-style dumplings).
Celebrated indigenous chef Mark Olive will demonstrate how to fuse native food and flavours with modern cooking.
Visitors can tour Braybrook’s community garden, learn the art of creating Sri Lankan hoppers and create their own wood-fired pizza. The centre will also host a cooking class aimed at children.
The cultural celebration will include a range of entertainment including a drumming circle, Afro jazz band, Bollywood dancer and henna artist.
Braybrook Garden to Plate is from 11am-3pm, Saturday, as part of Feasting in Footscray, a series of events for the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival (until March 11).
