Children who want to dance like Angelina Ballerina can do so at Steps Studios in Yarraville and Newport.
This year, Steps will be the Angelina Ballerina Academy for Yarraville and Hobsons Bay, with beginner ballet classes for three to six-year-olds.
“The popular dance program based on the hit TV show and books introduces children to dance in a fun, imaginative and caring way,” owner and dance instructor Rachelle Kellett says.
“The classes are not about perfection at that age but developing creativity and a passion for music and movement.”
Classes include dance instructions with Angelina’s voice and activities themed around the franchise. And students can meet Angelina when she visits the studios annually.
“The classes are an excellent foundation for students wishing to take their dance education to the next level,” Rachelle says.
Students who have done this successfully include Madison Lu, 8, who recently made her professional theatre debut as Molly in the Melbourne production of Annie.
“After dancing through auditions with thousands of talented youngsters, Madison spent a 12-week season performing alongside Anthony Warlow at the Regent Theatre.
“It was fascinating for all our teachers and students to see her captivating performance on the professional stage.”
Steps has dance classes in classical ballet (Royal Academy of Dance), jazz/funk, tap and hip-hop.
“We encourage everyone interested in dance to join, whether it be for recreational or professional aspirations.”
