Their bowling attack was on song from the get-go with new ball operators Andrew Leetet (3-31) and Andrew Walshe (3-38) making an immediate impression.
At one stage, the Druids were 3-12, before Damitha Hunukumbura (93 not out) and Indi Gallage (29) rescued the home side with a 57-run fourth-wicket partnership.
The Druids innings took another turn for the worst when their player-coach Jared Andrews slid to make his ground and dislocated a shoulder in the process.
The tail never wagged and CYs can head into the second day confident of chasing down the runs.
They will resume on 1-21 with player-coach Paul Murray (14) and opener Elliot Artingstoll (seven) at the crease.
In the senior division, Yarraville Club went on a run-scoring rampage to make 8-337 against Old Mentonians.

He featured in an entertaining 182-run, second-wicket stand with wily veteran Michael O’Keefe (110), who brought up his ninth ton at the level.
Some big hitting from lower-order batsmen Andrew Cullen (32), Adam Contessa (25) and Jake Armistead (24 not out) added a hint of invincibility to the score.
In other highlights, Laverton leg spinner Mark O’Brien mesmerised the Keilor Park batsmen in a seven-wicket haul, while Barkly Street Uniting opener Connor Danaher dispatched the St Andrews bowlers to all sections of Maribyrnong Reserve to bring up his first senior century.
