A MAMMOTH break initiated by Miles Da Costa, Josh Zammit and Ben O’Leary was swallowed up with mere minutes to go in a thrilling seventh round of the Footscray Cycling Club’s summer criterium on Saturday.
In a bunched sprint, 37-year-old Hoppers Crossing resident Paul Anders made the most of his position, following Shaun Gatter through and winning narrowly from Dom Dudkiewicz.
In B grade, Sanctuary Lakes entrant Kel Boers earned a promotion to A grade with a dominating display of power riding.
In C grade, newcomer Nathan Jungbauer was too strong, while Andrew Bonnello was elevated to C grade after winning in D grade.
