Filmmakers’ dreams flicker to life in Yarraville

BUDDING Burtons and student Spielbergs will see their films on the big screen in Yarraville tonight for the inaugural Freeze Frame Film Festival.

The FReeZA Maribyrnong committee has selected the best entries from across high schools and the general community for a 7pm screening at the Sun Theatre.

Maribyrnong mayor John Cumming says top entries, including ‘best young filmmaker’, will be announced after the screening.

“The Freeze Frame festival is a fantastic opportunity for young people to share their hard work and creativity,” he said.

FReeZA is a state government program in which people  aged 12-25 plan and run drug, smoke and alcohol-free music events.

Freeze Frame Film Festival tickets ($5) are available from Phoenix Youth Centre; phone 90914700. A limited number of tickets will be available at the Sun Theatre, 8 Ballarat Road, Yarraville.
