VFL: Williamstown’s sinking feeling

LAST year’s grand finalist Williamstown is out of the Victorian Football League top eight for the first time this season.

The down-on-form Seagulls were left to rue their woeful kicking for goal in a seven-point loss to North Ballarat Roosters on Sunday.

The Seagulls turned only nine of 25 scoring shots into goals and struggled to erode small deficits held by the Roosters at every change.

Livewire Jason Tutt was a positive for the Gulls with three goals and ever-consistent James Wall filed a strong game.

Seasoned campaigners Brett Goodes, Jamie McNamara, Nathan Djerrkura and Ben Jolley were among the best.

The Seagulls will be desperate to get back on the winners’ list when Collingwood visits Burbank Oval on Sunday.

SCORES:
