THE Western Region Football League under-15s came up short again, but the 14s may have unearthed a new forward star in a mixed weekend of results in the Victoria Metropolitan Junior Championships.
The 15s in division 2 remain winless after round two, going down by 26points to South East Junior Football League 4.12 (36) to 8.14 (62). Despite leading by a point at quarter-time, the 15s could scrounge only three goals for the rest of the match.
Charlie Vague kicked two goals, while Lochlan Allen, Jake Romeo and Brandon Davies were named the best of the Western brigade.

Meanwhile, the under-14s in division 2 notched their first win in the competition by accounting easily for SEJ by 41 points, 10.12 (72) to 5.1 (31). It could have been a much bigger win, as the 14s had 22 scoring shots to six in a lopsided encounter.
The 14s were slow to start as SEJ held a five-point buffer at the first break, but they fought back to lead by a straight kick at half-time.
But through Matthew Knezevic, with five majors, the WRFL kicked clear in the final quarter, keeping the opposition scoreless. Harrison Rocke, Nicholas Buykx and Luke Beddoe were among the best.
Both sides lost their third-round matches on Monday to the Eastern Football League.
The under 14s lost 14.13 (97) to 9.11 (65) and the under 15s lost 6.20 (56) to 6.8 (44).
