IF every picture tells a story, there are some rich tales to be told in the latest exhibition at Footscray Community Arts Centre.
For 12 months, Melbourne-based photographers Morganna Magee, Phil Wright and Alan Attwood used their lenses to capture the lives of 12 residents of aged-care provider Wintringham.
Wintringham, a not-for-profit service, supports people who might otherwise be homeless.
The photographers spent months getting to know each of the residents to ensure their images represented each person’s dignity and individuality.
Wintringham chief executive Bryan Lipmann said the project reflected the organisation’s philosophy of ‘options, dignity and rights’. “They have captured the amazing spirit and determination of the residents and given them the opportunity to document important aspects of their lives,” he said.
The free exhibition, Portraits of Wintringham People, will be launched at 1pm tomorrow at the Roslyn Smorgon Gallery, Footscray Community Arts Centre. It closes on June 24.
