MARIBYRNONG ratepayers have been spared further economic pain after Maribyrnong Council delivered its smallest rate rise in four years.
A rate increase of 4.9 per cent is proposed for 2012-13.
Rates – at 6.64 cents in the dollar – will earn the council $69.5 million in revenue, up 6.2 per cent on the $65.4 million it earned last year through a 5.5 per cent rate rise.
The council will spend $28 million of its total $110.3 million budget on capital works which includes: $4.6 million for roads; and $3.3 million for footpaths and upgrades to parks, gardens, sports grounds.
