An elderly woman’s Altona North home was gutted last Wednesday night after combustibles were left too close to a stove.
The 80-year-old suffered smoke inhalation during the blaze at her Angus Avenue house. Three people were in a rear bungalow when the fire took hold.
It severely damaged the kitchen, three other rooms and the roof. The damage bill is estimated at $500,000.
