THE annual charity dinner run by a small group of residents who govern the Hobsons Bay Community Fund, will be interrupted briefly in Williamstown Town Hall on Friday for the naming of this year’s grants recipients. The perpetual fund, set up in 2006, provides grants to community groups and organisations in the Bay, its organisers aiming to prove that small grants can make a big difference. One recipient will be the Hobsons Bay Toy Library, which will use $1800 to expand its reach. Over 36 years, the not-for-profit ‘library’ has loaned more than 2000 toys to children under six. They include Mitchell, 3, and Caterina, 4 (pictured).
