THE federal government is hosting a jobs and skills expo at the Altona Badminton Centre next month.
Department of Human Services’ Ryan Wickson said the expo was like doing six weeks of job hunting in a day.
“Job seekers should come and see the variety of jobs and skills training opportunities available at the expo and meet potential employers face-to-face.”
Terry Kennedy, local employment co-ordinator for north-west Melbourne, said more than 21,800 job seekers had found work so far through the expos.
“It’s great to see the local business community and the government working together through the jobs and skills expos to create real employment and training opportunities for job seekers in the western suburbs.”
He said any local businesses which did not have the time to be an exhibitor at the expo and wanted to advertise their job vacancy for free, could do so by calling 13 1158.
■ The expo is on October 4 from 10am-3pm at the Altona Badminton Centre, 271 Mason Street, Altona North.
