POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a number of assaults on women in Altona North in June, believed to have been committed by the same man.
Detectives from the Footscray Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating four separate incidents , all of which occurred on Mason Street between 4 and 8pm.
It is alleged the man approached the women trying to start a conversation before attempting to kiss and touch them.
Detectives believe the same man may be responsible for the most recent incident on Blackshaws Road on August 16, in which a 57-year-old woman was approached by a man who tried to start a conversation and attempted to indecently assault her at about 5pm.
The man is described as aged 20-35, possibly of Middle Eastern appearance and with a strong accent.
Police have released an image fitting the description of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
