Spotswood playwright on write track for top award

Spotswood playwright Daniel Keene (pictured) has been shortlisted for Australia’s richest literary prize, the Victorian Prize for Literature.

Premier and Arts Minister Ted Baillieu last week announced 21 works shortlisted across five categories, with a total prize purse of $225,000.

Keene has made the drama shortlist with Boxman, which was performed at If Theatre for the Big West Festival.

Boxman is about a man called Ringo, displaced from his African homeland who has a new address in “downtown Footscray”.
