AFL: Western Buldogs re-sign promising trio

WESTERN Bulldogs have opted in on the futures of Ayce Cordy, Jordan Roughead and Tory Dickson.

It was revealed today the trio had signed contract extentions to keep them at the kennel and out of the clutches of rival clubs.

Bulldogs general manager of football James Fantasia spoke about the three youngsters being of a high character and good fit to take the club forward.

”It’s terrific for the club to have guys of sound character and great potential re-commit to our football club,” he said.

”Ayce, Jordan and Tory are the right type of people to help drive this football club forward.”

Cordy was a father-son selection in 2008 and has endured an injury-interrupted start to life in the big league.

The 21-year-old has managed 11 games as a key forward this season and shown glimpses amidst inconsistent performances.

Roughead has shown immense potential in his 29 games, but is yet to totally nail down the second ruck position or clearly define his role in the team.

The best first year player of 2010 appears most at ease in the ruck role, but needs a bigger impact when resting forward and the Bulldogs hope that will come with experience.

Dickson was perhaps the most ready-made of the three and has been one of the more reliable forwards in an under-performing Bulldogs forward line.

The former Bendigo Bomber is averaging better than a goal a game in his rookie season and is sure to thrive once the young tall forwards develop to their full potential.
