HV: Seagulls dish out 7-0 hiding to Toorak-East Malvern

AFTER a lean month, Altona was back on the winners’ list in style, recording a 7-0 win over Toorak-East Malvern in Hockey Victoria men’s state league 1 at Grant Reserve on Sunday.

The speed of strikers Pat Phillips and debutant Josh Horton troubled the TEM defence and the pair combined well with other forwards Sukh Butter and Mick Gallo.

Seagulls co-captains Steve Campbell and Tyson Priddle dominated in the centre and were ably supported by young centre-half Harry Dolenc.

A penalty corner conversion by Daniel O’Loughlin, his first state league 1 goal, was followed quickly by a field goal from Jesse Gatt.

In the second half the floodgates opened.

Chris Coleman, who along with co-coach Greg Drak, returned from representing Victoria at the national under-21 championships, calmly slotted a penalty corner flick and Gatt combined with Gallo for a blistering run through the circle to get his second field goal.

Coleman slotted two searing penalty corner drag flicks in the top corner

and Phillips finished the game off on a high, with a diving lunge to put the ball past a very out-of-sorts TEM goalkeeper.
