A Williamstown business is in the running for the Australian Newsagent of the Year award.
Owners of Williamstown News & Lotto Jeff Otter and Anne Szanto were “flabbergasted” to be chosen from six finalists in the Victorian Association of Newsagents awards and named Retail Newsagency of the Year.
They’ve now got fingers crossed for the national title announced in Brisbane next month. Judges said the newsagency had “worked tirelessly to grow the business and offer the best products and service”.
They also said staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient.
Mr Otter has owned the business since 1992 – first with his two brothers, then he made Ms Szanto a partner four years ago.
“We’ve worked terribly hard building up the retail side and introducing new stock,” Ms Szanto says.
The pair have 60 years’ combined experience in the industry and say the award gives them recognition and a sense of achievement.
