When he was alive, Mark Brandon “Chopper” Read said he would like to break comedian Heath Franklin’s arm and complained about the fact he had ears.
“I’ve got my name trademarked but I can’t sue him because it’s parody … it’s like impersonating the Queen of England,” the criminal-turned-author lamented.
But even six foot under you can’t keep a good character down and Franklin is reprising his Logie-award-winning Chopper persona with his new show Repeat Offender at the Yarraville Club, Stephen Street, Yarraville, on Saturday, April 4.
It’s enough to make an honest crim turn in his grave.
