Golden classics that never date hit Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN Film Society will screen Gone with the Wind on April 25 as part of its monthly film nights from February to November.

Dorothy Page said next week’s screening of the digitally remastered American classic, starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable, was a highlight of this year’s program.

Other films include The Taming of the Shrew, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, in June, Australian classic Newsfront, starring Bill Hunter, in September, and Japanese Classic Yojimbo in October.

“More recent films include The Illusionist, a French animation based on a script by Jacques Tati, to be screened with the Oscar-winning animation The Lost thing by Australian animator Shaun Tan, and Small Treasures by Sarah Watt, in an evening of animated film,” Ms Page said.

Films will be screened at 7.30pm on the last Wednesday of the month in the Mechanics Institute in Electra Street, Williamstown.
