Easter carnival

As part of its indoor and outdoor carnival, which runs until April 12, Westgate entertainment complex will open on Good Friday to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital. From 1pm, the carnival will feature amusement rides and games for all ages. There will also be a free Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday starting at noon. Corner of Grieve Parade and Dohertys Road, Altona North.

School holiday activities

Hobsons Bay libraries are hosting school holiday activities until April 10 at all branches and at Newport’s Substation. Activities include creating a conductive robot flashing card, badge making, movies and a Punch and Judy Magic Show. Bookings required.

Edgewater Festival

Money talks

Laverton Community Centre is holding a free saving and spending workshop on April21 from 1-3.30pm. It will cover everyday costs, shopping, generating extra money, fortnightly budgets and financial planning. Other courses include an everyday banking workshop, anger management for men, self-esteem and assertion for women and gentle exercise and meditation. Bookings essential.

Wool wanted

If you have spare wool at home, Altona’s Louis Joel centre would love to hear from you. Its team of knitters needs wool to knit items for charity. Wool can be dropped into the centre at 5 Sargood Street, or call 9398 2511 for details.

Young parents

Are you a young parent between 16 and 25 years of age and want to meet other young parents in your local area? Free groups meet in Laverton on Mondays
from 10-11.30am, Altona Meadows on Mondays from 1-2.30pm and Sunshine
on Fridays from noon-2.30pm. Come
along with your children and meet other young parents. The groups organise fun activities for the kids and go on outings
to the zoo, Scienceworks and other places. Contact Mary.
