LATEST: The Altona SES unit received more than 200 calls for assistance as wild winds lashed Melbourne on Monday night.
Deputy controller Peter Tester said that about a third of calls concerned trees across roads.
One tree fell between two homes in Purnell Street, Altona, damaging both roofs.
