Footscray Edgewater left it late to overcome Fitzroy-Doncaster by two wickets in a Premier Cricket thriller at Schramms Reserve on Saturday.
The Bulldogs, set 228 for victory in a tense one-dayer, passed the target on the second-last ball of the game.
Wes Robinson was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 59.
First drop Travis Dean (28) threatened until he was run out and there were significant contributions from Michael Hill (37) and Anthony Barton (25) in the middle order. New recruit Jake Haberfield and Lucas Dredge were at the crease when the winning runs were scored.
Earlier in the day, Hamish Winter-Irving continued his hot start to the season with the ball, taking 2-29 off 10 overs.
Haberfield claimed the prized scalp of in-form Peter Dickson for 61 on his way to 2-55 from 10.
The Bulldogs have a double-header of one-dayers this weekend.
They will confront Richmond at Merv Hughes Oval on Saturday before making a visit to Casey-South Melbourne on Sunday.
