Public Transport Victoria (PTV) has refused to release all documents relating to plans and costings for the duplication of the Altona Loop on the Werribee line.
Western suburbs Greens MP Colleen Hartland said the public deserved to know what was contained in the documents that her freedom of information (FOI) application now proves are in existence.
“It is in the public interest to know what the government plans to do with the public’s train service, yet the Napthine government is refusing to reveal anything,” she said.
“I think the information is being withheld because it will show that duplicating the Altona Loop single track is cost-effective and will bring great benefit to the community.
“The Liberal government just doesn’t care about the west and isn’t interested in investing in our infrastructure.
“The Altona Loop community deserves a decent train service and deserves to know what is happening. Instead, they’re being kept in the dark, adding frustration to an already difficult situation.”
Responding to Ms Hartland’s FOI application, PTV listed numerous documents it was withholding.
PTV spokeswoman Andrea Duckworth said all relevant documents had been released.
“A review of PTV’s decision on this FOI request was later undertaken by the independent FOI commissioner who agreed with PTV’s assessment,” she said.
Asked if it was in the public interest for all the documents to be made public, she did not respond.
