Democracy aim for Williamstown’s Millennial winner

Williamstown’s Olly Tripodi has been voted Australia’s first MTV Millennial Leader.

Australia’s millennials (born 1982-2003) chose the 21-year-old head of Victoria’s Youth Parliament to be the MTV movement’s leader of a campaign to promote youth engagement.

Tripodi will be ‘in office’ until September 14 – the UN International Day of Democracy – addressing issues that matter to young people.

Tripodi says he aims to get young people involved in democracy.

“Something I’ve been passionate about is taking information that sometimes seems inaccessible or redundant and turning it into a format that is more accessible to everyone, especially young people,” he said.

As Millennial leader, Tripodi will have access to a brains trust of influential people and broad exposure through MTV outlets and other media.
