WHAT’S ON: Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay

KINDRED SPIRITS

One of Yarraville’s creative hubs will open its doors to the community on Saturday. From noon-4pm, the Kindred Studios’ free open day will include interactive, creative workshops for kids and grown-ups, music performances, tours and a photography shoot. Visitors to 212a Whitehall Street will be able to sample the new Kindred Café on the Park or take part in workshops on yoga, African dance, cabaret for kids and mask-making. There will be performances by the Broken Needles, Rachel by the Stream, Asanti Dance Theatre, Rebecca J & the Core, and Victoria University music students.

SEDDON

The Seddon Festival returns to the Charles/ Victoria Street hub from 10am-4pm this Saturday. Enjoy stalls, a kids’ zone, roving performers and family entertainment, including Rebecca Barnard, Billy Miller and the festival’s first international artists, comedy duo Perky and Fiddle from the Netherlands.

ALTONA FRAMED

Let Bruce Hargrave’s watercolour exhibition remind you how natural and nautical Altona is. The All About Altona exhibition runs for three weeks in March at Altona’s Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre at 5 Sargood Street.

CREATIVE HUB

See migratory birds from Siberia on a “bird walk and talk” hosted by Hobsons Bay conservation rangers. Bird watchers can explore Altona Coastal Park and Kororoit Creek. Bring good walking shoes and binoculars. Meet and register at the Anglers Club, corner of Maddox Road and Grey Reserve Road, Williamstown. The event runs from 8.30-10.30am on Thursday, February 27.
