From a car show to a cake stall, here’s 5 things to do in the Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay areas.

 

Car torque

The Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed motoring group will meet at 280 Queens Street, Altona, to show their cars and talk the torque from 10am-3pm on Sunday September 6. Bring your classic or custom car, or motorbike.

Cake stall

The Country Women’s Association of Victoria will hold a cake stall from 9am-2pm, Saturday September 5, at Bunnings West Footscray. The CWA is establishing branches in urban areas, including Footscray-Yarraville.

Paddock planting

Join Friends of Newells Paddock in enjoying the joys of spring in the park, a free Rotary barbecue and the feeling of satisfaction that you’re helping increase biodiversity and habitat values by helping the indigenous plants thrive. From 12.30-3pm, Saturday. September 5

School centenary

Footscray West Primary School will hold its centenary celebrations on Friday and Saturday, September 4-5. The school will be open 10am-2pm both days for displays and an art show. A sausage sizzle and Devonshire tea will be available on the Saturday, with a Saturday night licensed event for adults.

Woodcut show

See collaborative artworks created by asylum seekers and refugees who have attended wood-cut workshops. The exhibition opens 5-8pm, Friday, September 18, closing September 24, at the Dancing Dog, 42 Albert Street, Footscray.
