Victoria University students and staff were out in force on Friday, volunteering at community projects across the western suburbs.
More than 300 volunteers took part in the university’s annual Volunteer for You (V4U) Day, rolling up their sleeves to take part in projects, from gardening, painting, and litter collecting to activities with the elderly, those with disabilities and school children.
The event was launched in Footscray’s Nicholson Street Mall and rolled out across the west throughout the day. At Whitten Oval, home of the Bulldogs, VU exercise sport students and other volunteers organised a day of fun and physical activities for children with disabilities.
Now in its fifth year, V4U Day draws VU volunteers from all sectors and campuses, building relationships between students, staff and the community.
