Traditional Greek costumes and culture will be on display for all to enjoy when the Greek School at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Parish at Yarraville holds its first ever Family Fun Day.
Parents of students attending the school on evenings or weekends are banding together to help raise funds to buy iPads to help the next generation of Greek Australians maintain Greek language and culture.
Parent Theoni Talone said it was the first time the school had held such an event.
“We have about 200 students from prep to VCE, and the school is in great need of updated education materials,” she said.
“We are hoping to buy some iPads and help out with some of the other resources they require.”
Mrs Talone said students come from as far as Hoppers Crossing and Port Melbourne, but many live locally as well.
The Family Fun Day will feature a sausage sizzle, fairy floss and face painting, as well as traditional dancing and sweet treats.
It will be held 11am-4pm on Saturday, October 31, in the church grounds at 5 Murray Street, Yarraville.
